Junior doctors welcomed into WA health system

The Western Australian health system will benefit from the latest intake of junior doctors, who will complete their three-year internships within metropolitan and regional hospitals.

318 junior doctors have accepted internships in WA public hospitals for 2018.

Graduates trained at Western Australian universities, including six Aboriginal graduates, accepted 273 positions (86 per cent).

The interns will be placed at:

  • Fiona Stanley Hospital (118);
  • Royal Perth Hospital (87);
  • Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (103); and
  • WA Country Health Service – Albany Hospital and Bunbury Hospital (10).

A further 18 interns, including 14 international medical graduates, will commence at Ramsay Health Care campuses under an agreement with the Australian Government.
