Bunbury contractor to deliver major tourist attraction

The $8.3 million contract for the redevelopment of the iconic Dolphin Discovery Centre has been won by a Bunbury-based contractor.

Bunbury-based Perkins Builders will deliver the upgrade and expansion of the tourist attraction, with partial site possession to take place next month prior to works on the main building getting underway from May.

The interpretative centre and café will remain open until the end of April before closing to enable construction to take place. The centre will continue to operate eco cruises.

The project will be completed late this year, with the opening of an iconic new building designed by Bunbury practice MCG Architects.

It will boast state-of-the art facilities including a new interpretative centre and exhibits, café and souvenir shop designed to lure both domestic and international visitors to Bunbury and the wider South-West.

The Dolphin Discovery Centre redevelopment, along with the revitalisation of the Koombana Bay foreshore, forms stage one of the Transforming Bunbury’s Waterfront project.
