Applications are now open for the Volunteer Fuel Card following a later-than-usual State Budget and feedback from volunteers.
The card is a small gift for emergency services volunteers to thank them for the invaluable contribution they make to Western Australia.
The September delivery of the Budget, which extended the allocation of funding from 2018-19 to 2021, resulted in the application process opening later than the previous year.
A review into the accountability and practical use of the card has also been carried out following consultations with volunteers.
Brigades, groups and units will now be able to apply for another two cards to assist with the sharing of $1,000 worth of fuel among the volunteers.
Governance arrangements have also been streamlined to assist the officers in charge who administer the card and the application period has been extended.
