Treasurer Ben Wyatt has today congratulated Christian Porter, Michaelia Cash and Mathias Cormann on their promotions within the Turnbull Cabinet but highlighted that their increased profile must translate to a better GST deal for Western Australia.
In a reshuffle that elevates their influence within Cabinet, Mr Porter has been appointed as Attorney-General, Ms Cash has been promoted to Minister for Jobs and Innovation, while Mr Cormann takes up the position of Special Minister of State and Leader of the Government in the Senate.
Western Australian Ministers Julie Bishop and Ken Wyatt have retained their positions while Michael Keenan joins them in the Cabinet.
The promotion of Mr Porter, Ms Cash and Mr Cormann comes in the lead-up to the Productivity Commission’s final report into the GST being considered by Federal Cabinet early next year.
