The Australian Federal Police (AFP) is seeking the public’s help to identify two men who may be able to assist further investigations into the importation of 356kg of MDMA destined for Canberra.
The investigation began in May 2017 when Austtralian Border Force (ABF) officers intercepted an airfreight consignment from Germany, destined for an address in Fyshwick, Canberra. The consignment contained 144 buckets labelled as chlorine, concealing bags of a white crystalline substance. This substance was later confirmed to be 356kg of MDMA.
Last week, joint AFP, ACT Policing and ABF operations resulted in the arrest of a 23-year-old Canberra man. He faced the ACT Magistrates Court, charged with importing a commercial quantity of a border controlled drug.
Further investigations revealed two men attended a courier facility in Hume, ACT, in May 2017 and enquired about a consignment from Germany. Police believe these men have information that could assist the investigation.
The AFP is now seeking the public’s help to identify the two men, pictured in CCTV footage at the courier facility.
AFP Manager Crime Operations, Commander Justine Gough, urged anyone with information to come forward.
“We’re asking anyone who knows these men, or has any information that could assist police to come forward. If either of these men recognise themselves, we ask they contact the AFP on 131 237.”
Police would also like to speak with anyone who may have come across similar branded ‘Bio Line’ and labeled ‘Rapid Snel Chlor’ (pictured).
