Land for concrete batching plants to be rezoned in City of Vincent

Concrete batching plants in East Perth have been given a deadline to move to more suitable locations by 2024 in a decision by Acting Planning Minister Ben Wyatt

Mr Wyatt has considered the City of Vincent’s Local Planning Scheme No. 2 and requested that modifications be made before final approval is given. Modifications will see the sites of the existing concrete batching plants rezoned to Mixed Use.

The finalised scheme will revitalise the local government area by establishing five precincts that encourage housing diversity, jobs and leisure opportunities around major public transport.

The Concrete Batching Plants at Lot 200 Edward Street and Lot 1001 Claisebrook Road will be zoned Mixed Use with a residential density of R160. The scheme will allow the plants to remain until June 30, 2024 to enable time for the operators to plan for their relocation. From this date, the Mixed Use zoning will remain and facilitate the redevelopment of the sites.

The scheme will now be forwarded to the City of Vincent to make the modifications before it can be approved by the Acting Minister.
