Fremantle Detectives have arrested a man for firearm offences as a result of their investigation into allegations of a person modifying replica and blank firing firearms and converting them to live working order in exchange for drugs and ammunition.
On Thursday 30 November 2017, Detectives executed a search warrant at a home on Pearse Road in Beeliar. During the search it is alleged police located and seized:
- 15 replica and blank firing handguns that were in various stages of modification, four of which had been fully converted to fire live ammunition;
- In excess of 1000 rounds of ammunition;
- Various prohibited weapons;
- Firearm silencers;
- Small amounts of Methamphetamine; and
- Metal working equipment used to modify firearms.
A 56 year old man from Beeliar is due to appear in the Fremantle Magistrates Court on 19 December 2017, charged with:
- 13 counts of Unlicensed Person Possess Firearm/Ammunition;
- 4 counts of Possessed a Prohibited Weapon;
- 2 counts of Possession of Contrivance known as a Silencer;
- 2 counts of Failed to Ensure Safe-Keeping of Firearm/Ammunition;
- Possess a Prohibited Drug; and
- Possessed any Drug Paraphernalia in or on which there was a Prohibited Drug or Plant.
