Perth Festival has announced its 2018 program, which heralds the arrival in Western Australia of more than 700 local, national and international artists next February.
From the free opening event Siren Song, which serenades the sunrise and sunset along St Georges Terrace for the first 10 days of the 3½-week festival, Perth’s premier cultural event again promises to be an essential summer experience.
Nine national exclusives, two world premieres and five Australian season premieres are among the dizzying array of more than 230 music, theatre, dance, literature, film and visual art events – many of them free.
The many highlights of Artistic Director Wendy Martin’s third annual festival program include Michael Clark Dance Company, French circus Compagnie XY, Robert Lepage’s Ex Machina, Inua Ellams, Jordi Savall, Helen Garner, Tim Winton, Dizzee Rascal and Neil and Liam Finn.
Celebrating 65 years as Australia’s oldest international arts festival, Perth Festival brings the community closer together and is a key attraction for tourists looking for special experiences.
Showcasing the world’s best artists alongside WA’s own world-class talent, Perth Festival is expected to attract more than 360,000 people and provide jobs, boost skills and foster the innovation that strengthens the State’s development.
Lotterywest has been a supporter of the Perth Festival since 1992 and is providing a grant for $7.55 million to support the 2018 Festival.
