Taxi driver assaulted in Dampier

Karratha Police have charged a man following the assault of a taxi driver in Dampier on Sunday, 29 October 2017.

Around 12.45am the 53 year old male victim picked up a man and drove to an address in Dampier. There was a verbal altercation between the two over the fare owed. It will be alleged that the man punched the victim to the head through the open window of the taxi, before opening the door and dragging the victim out of the taxi and onto the ground, kicking him several times.

The victim received torn shoulder muscles, two broken ribs as well as bruising and swelling to his head.

A 33 year old man from Dampier, has been charged with:

  • Assaulted the driver of a Taxi or an Omnibus

He will appear in the Karratha Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 15 November 2017.
