Planning approval for events hub in Perth CBD

A vacant lot adjacent to Yagan Square will be used for markets, local music and community events following recent approval from Planning Minister Rita Saffioti.

The new events space has been created within the Perth City Link project and will host the WAMFest Live Lot Party – a free concert celebrating Western Australian music across two stages.

WAMFest Live Lot Party will be followed by the Perth Makers Christmas Markets and the official Pride Parade After Party later this month.

Creating additional event spaces and making it easier for organisers to arrange live music and festivals is a key component of the McGowan Government’s Creative WA policy.

This initiative is designed to activate spaces across the city such as laneways, streets, streetscapes, parks and open spaces with a diverse range of cultural activity.

Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority is progressing a land sales and development program with work currently underway to secure titles for the lots.

Developers have been selected for six of the 10 development lots in Perth City Link. Expressions of Interest for the sale and development of the latest land release close later this month.
