Community input sought for new Subi East planning framework

The WA Government’s commitment to creating well connected communities in Perth’s inner suburbs progressed today with the release of a draft redevelopment scheme and associated policies for Subiaco.

The new planning framework will apply to the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority’s (MRA) recently expanded Subiaco Redevelopment Area and considers important strategic sites, including Subiaco Oval and the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) site.

Draft Scheme 2 will consider future land uses for redevelopment of parts of Subiaco and will transfer planning authority from the City of Subiaco and the Western Australian Planning Commission to the MRA.

The draft development policies propose to update the existing planning framework include requirements for sustainability, public art, heritage interpretation and affordable housing. The documents are open for public comment until January 8, 2018. For more information, visit https://www.mra.wa.gov.au/public-comments

In addition to establishing a new planning framework, design work is progressing for the new Inner City College and early site works will commence in the first half of 2018 to prepare the Kitchener Park site for construction.
