Karratha Robbery and Assault

Karratha Detectives continue to seek information regarding a robbery and assault that occurred on Saturday, 21 October 2017.

At about 10pm, three men flagged down a taxi on Balmoral Road near Warambie Road, Karratha. A short distance into the journey the men became aggressive when the taxi driver inquired about payment of the fare. The driver stopped the taxi on Balmoral Road near Hyde Road and the men pulled him from the vehicle. The men assaulted him and stole a sum of money before fleeing the area on foot.

The 53 year old taxi driver received a possible broken arm and sought medical treatment at the Nickol Bay Hospital.

One man is described as being in his 30s, with dark skin, a solid build and shaved head. He was wearing a black t-shirt and sneakers. The other two men are described as being in their 20s, with dark skin and solid builds. One had short curly hair.

Detectives would like to speak to the driver of a Toyota Hilux (photo attached). The Hilux has a roof rack, awning, sports bar, bull bar and mag wheels. The vehicle was travelling along Balmoral Road around 10:30pm and it is believed the driver of the Hilux may be able to assist police with the investigation.
