New water main in Banksia Grove caters for growth

Works on a new water main in the suburb of Banksia Grove are now complete and ready to cater for growth in the City of Wanneroo.

The $1.7 million Water Corporation project involved the construction of 1.33 kilometres of water main from the intersection of Dainty Lane and Woolly Road, to the southern intersection of Brunswick Circuit and Celadon Loop in Banksia Grove.

Work was carried out in stages to reduce disruption, with trenchless technology used to minimise traffic impacts on busy roads. This technology enabled the Water Corporation to tunnel under the intersection, without the need to dig up the road surface.

Local Western Australian contractor Civcon began construction of the new water main in April 2017, with work completed in mid-September.

The Water Corporation supplies water to households and businesses in Banksia Grove as part of the Integrated Water Supply Scheme, which provides water to more than two million people in Perth, the Goldfields and Agricultural Region, and some parts of the South-West. Water for the scheme is sourced from desalination, groundwater and dams.
