Perth Stadium pie contract awarded to WA company

Family-owned Perth company Mrs Mac’s has beaten out Eastern States competition to win the tender to supply pies and pastries to Perth Stadium.

Pies supplied to WA stadiums have traditionally come from Eastern States companies.

The five-year deal with Mrs Mac’s demonstrates a competitive approach by the Western Australian company and will provide a boost to employment and a fillip to local producers.

Mrs Mac’s sources 85 per cent of its ingredients from Western Australia, employs 300 people and is worth $50 million a year to the local economy.

It purchases $30 million worth of WA produce each year, including 2,800 tonnes per annum of prime 100 per cent WA beef and 4,800 tonnes of flour produced from premium WA wheat.

The McGowan Government is in the process of filling Perth Stadium’s events calendar for the coming years, with a plan to secure as many world-class events as possible to boost tourism, create new jobs and stimulate the economy.

Perth Stadium will host an AFLW fixture in February 2018, two Ed Sheeran concerts and the Perth NRL double header in March 2018, Chelsea Football Club versus Perth Glory in mid-2018, State of Origin II and a Bledisloe Cup match in 2019 with more world-class events to be announced soon.

Construction of the 60,000-seat Perth Stadium is more than 97 per cent complete and will officially open with a free Community Open Day on Sunday January 21, 2018.
