Children’s Week off to a super hero start

A Super Hero Family Day in Kalgoorlie is among the events taking place during Children’s Week, which gets underway in Perth and regional Western Australia today.

Children will be encouraged to dress up as Batman, Wonder Woman, Spiderman and a host of other super heroes, as they join their families to learn about staying safe in the community.

Hosted by the Sandalwood Family Centre on October 25, the free event will also feature bouncy castles, face painting and a sausage sizzle.

The WA Children’s Week Grants program is administered by the Meerilinga Young Children’s Foundation, with funding from the Department of Communities and Lotterywest.

Funding of $25,000 has been provided by the State Government for events to celebrate the week through the WA Children’s Week Grants program.

The program provides up to $2,000 to not-for-profit community organisations and local governments in regional and remote areas to host Children’s Week activities.

Funding is also provided for events at Meerilinga’s seven metropolitan centres, which will focus on explorative outdoor play. A list of Children’s Week events can be found on the Children’s Week website.
