Community input key to the future of the health system

Extensive engagement and consultation as part of the State Government’s Sustainable Health Review is attracting input from people and organisations across the State.

Public forums have been held in Wembley, Cockburn, Maylands, Albany, Port Hedland, Northam, Geraldton and Kalgoorlie, with remaining events to be held in Broome and Bunbury, and two additional events recently scheduled for Joondalup and Mandurah.

A range of clinical sessions have also been held in regional locations with many participants connecting through video-conference across health sites.

The closing date for public submissions has been extended to October 27, 2018 to ensure that more Western Australians can contribute to the review.

Strong themes continue to emerge including the importance of social determinants of health, collaboration and partnerships across sectors, health inequities, preventative health, end of life care, culture, workforce and a more innovative approach to using information and technology.

Following on from the interim report being published in 2018, there will be a second round of consultation focusing on preliminary findings and directions.
