Country local government grants boost job opportunities

The State Government is investing in the future of local government by offering local job opportunities to young people living in the regions.

Grants of up to $20,000 are available through the Country Local Government Fund Youth Development Traineeship Program to support the creation of traineeship-based employment for young people aged 24 years and under.

The traineeships will enable young country people to develop long-term employment skills and expose them to future employment opportunities and networks within local government.

Scholarships of up to $10,000 are also available to country local government employees aged 30 years and under to participate in job-related training or study.

Young people from indigenous and multicultural backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply to their local government when funding becomes available.

The Country Local Government Fund Youth Development Program is one of five initiatives that received $5 million in funding over two years to improve the capacity of country local government.
