Table tennis veterans serving up fast and furious competition

More than 400 players aged from 30 into their 80s will compete in the National Veterans Table Tennis Championships 2017 in Mandurah, beginning today.

The 35-table competition to crown Australia’s best in the older age categories will be held at Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre from October 7-14.

The Championships will also welcome players from the United States of America, Wales, New Zealand, Vietnam, Latvia, China and Japan.

Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray announced the McGowan Government had contributed $5,000 through the Country Sport Enrichment Scheme to help Table Tennis Western Australia to host the Championships.

The Country Sport Enrichment Scheme supports organisations to deliver international, national or State events and provide access to sport development opportunities in regional WA.
