Local F1 star opens Motor Museum of WA extension

Fresh from placing second in the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix last weekend, Perth’s Daniel Ricciardo made a pit stop to open the new exhibition space at the Motor Museum of WA in Whiteman Park.

The $2 million extension, which received a $711,990 Lotterywest grant, was purpose-built to house up to 75 extra vehicles.

In a major win for Whiteman Park, the museum has also secured Ricciardo’s first Red Bull Formula 1 race car – complete with engine – as a permanent loan.

The iconic Red Bull Renault will be a key attraction at the motor museum, which is close to the old Caversham Circuit where Australian racing legend Sir Jack Brabham competed in several Grand Prix during the 1950s and 60s.

Since 1994, the Motor Museum has been a popular drawcard for Whiteman Park. The new exhibition space gives visitors better access to the State’s biggest collection of motoring history.

The Motor Museum is open from 10am to 4pm weekdays and 10am to 5pm on weekends. For more information, visit http://www.whitemanpark.com.au
