Lotterywest support for Royal Show

Agriculture and Food Minister Alannah MacTiernan today presented a $450,000 Lotterywest grant to the Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia to support the 2017 Perth Royal Show.

Of the funding, $350,000 will go towards free and subsidised tickets for disadvantaged sectors of the community.

Ticket allocations will be managed through a distribution strategy involving community organisations that support migrant and ethnic communities, seniors, Aboriginal Australians, people with disability and people from low socio-economic communities.

The remaining $100,000 will be dedicated to volunteer co-ordination and costs associated with managing and supporting the Show’s more than 2,500 volunteers.

These volunteers are at the heart of the Royal Show and are involved in every aspect of its educational and interactive activities and programs.

The 2017 Perth Royal Show opens on Saturday week (September 23) and is expected to attract about 300,000 people.
