The State Government’s election pledge to reinstate financial counselling services in the Perth metropolitan area has been honoured, with an extra $7.4 million committed over four years.
Delivering on the election commitment, the additional investment ensures a greater number of people will have immediate access to support during times of financial hardship.
Reduced waiting lists for critical financial counselling services will enable more Western Australians to halt the poverty cycle and gain control of their finances.
In addition, as a priority group, families experiencing domestic violence will receive improved access. Evidence shows that victims sometimes stay in unsafe relationships due to financial abuse.
