Perth Lord Mayor, Lisa Scaffidi, will not carry out the functions of the Office until an appeal to the Supreme Court has been determined over her expenses scandal.
CEO Martin Mileham said the process for the City after today’s development is straightforward.
“Under the Local Government Act, the Deputy Lord Mayor may fulfil the duties of the Office of the Lord Mayor until a definitive outcome is reached,” Mr Mileham said.
“Throughout this period, the Administration will continue to focus on providing services to ratepayers, stakeholders and the community.
“As CEO, my priority is the well-being of staff, who have shown their resilience throughout this period.”
The City has received legal advice that the Lord Mayor remains entitled to the annual allowance as stipulated by the Local Government Act.
