Support Legacy during its annual appeal

Minister for Veterans’ Affairs Dan Tehan has urged Australians to support Legacy during its annual appeal to help continue the important work it does in assisting the families of Australian veterans.

Legacy Week runs until 2 September and raises funds that support some 70,000 widows and 1,900 children, with services such as counselling, special housing, medical, advocacy and social support.

Mr Tehan said members of the ex-service community established Legacy to provide support to the families of our incapacitated and deceased veterans.

“The Australian Government and Legacy share a common goal, which is providing the best possible care and support to ex-serving members of the Australian Defence Force and their families,” Mr Tehan said.

“Legacy is well known for the comfort it provides grieving families and I would urge all Australians to donate or volunteer their time during Legacy week.

“Legacy makes a real difference to the lives of thousands of families who have lost someone who served our country.

“I thank Legacy and all its volunteers for the important work they do to honour the service and sacrifice of the men and women who defend our country.”

Donations help support educational activities for children through contributions to school fees, books, uniforms and other activities.
