The State Government, through Tourism WA, has signed a two-year deal to sponsor the Act-Belong-Commit Augusta Adventure Fest.
Recognised as the world’s biggest adventure race, the popular event regularly attracts more than 3,500 participants to Augusta and the surrounding South-West region.
This year’s event, to be held on November 4-5, includes coastal and trail running, mountain-biking, kayaking and ocean swimming.
It is expected to bring about 10,000 intrastate, interstate and international visitors to the region.
Competitors can participate in one of three races – the 56 kilometre Adventure Race, the Augusta Mini short course or the Augusta Junior Survivor for children.
The Augusta Adventure Fest is supported by the State Government through Tourism WA’s Regional Events Program.
Tourism Minister Paul Papalia said events such as the Augusta Adventure Fest delivered significant benefits to the WA economy, increasing tourism spending and creating jobs.
Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan said “Events like the Act-Belong-Commit Augusta Adventure Fest help to position regional WA as a recognised tourism destination, generating additional visitor spend and bringing significant economic benefits to the State.
“Regional events are a strategic asset for WA; they create job opportunities and increase the quality of life in regional communities.”
